                                                                                                                         WHEEL ARCH CALCULATION

     

    Wheel Arch calculation is to know whether the wheel is placed inside the fender. If the Wheel is located outside the Fender it create chips whle running and it cause the damages to the components and Pedestrian.

    REGION OF WHEEL ARCH CALCULATION

    • JAPAN REGION 
    • EUROPEAN REGION 
    • UNITED STATES REGION

    JAPAN REGION 

    Each Region follows some standards according to their region road condition. 

    • Measure Clearance L of hub,tier, fender and cap of minimum 5mm gap in three different positions. 

    EUROPEAN REGION

    • It is similar to the Japn region instead we add an extra line with 150mm of reference and a midpoint line between the 50 degree line and the 150mm ref line.
    • The clearance should be of 10mm gap between the wheel and the Arch.

    UNITED STATES REGION

    • In the US region it should calculate for every 10 degree of the wheel arch area from beyond the 0 degree value. In US region also they are maintaining 10mm clearance between the wheel and arch.

     

                                                                                                                 WHEEL ARCH CALCULATION EUROPEAN STANDARD

       

    In the above fender and wheel arch we have to calculate the clearance according to the european standards.

    • Create an datum plane with outer edge of the wheel as a reference and create a sketch.
    • Create a line horizontally of 0 degree to 180 degree and vertical of 90 degree.
    • Draw a line to 30 degree and 50 degree respectively.
    • With reference of 150mm from the 0 degree line draw an line which intersects with the point.
    • Using Derive line command create an midpoint line between them.
    • Create an intersection point for all the line to the projected outer edge of an arch.
    • Next Project the all the points to the body and calculate the distance between the point on plane to the body.

    CONCLUSION 

    Hence the given fender arch model is not clearing the standard clearance value. We have to make changes in either Fender or Hood Design.
