1. Benchmark with presently available cars in the market for the following case.

Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once in a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest to him with options so that he will buy a good car for his family.

Technical benchmarking is performed by design staff to determine the capabilities of products or services, especially in comparison to the products or services of leading competitors. For example, on a scale of one to four, four being best, how do designers rank the properties of your organization’s products or services? If you cannot obtain hard data, the design efforts may be insufficient, and products or services may be inadequate to be competitive.

Benchmarking in the automobile industry

Benchmarking involves a structured comparison between similar products, services or processes on some dimensions of performance.  For example it can be  used to compare the availability and delivery of features in a product and in this form often provides the basis of consumer tests and reviews.  These look at  products and services and provide recommendations based on which is best or  some form of ranking amongst competitors.

It is particularly useful when comparing not only performance but also practice – in other words what do the different organizations do to enable that performance to be delivered?  And applied in this way it is a powerful tool in  process innovation sin e studying how the ‘best’ achieve their performance can  provide powerful clues for changing the way processes operate.  Process benchmarking of this kind can operate at several levels:

• Between similar processes in the same factory or service branch
• Between different factories or service branches
• Between different competing organizations
• Between different sectors using the same process

At last, the final car for Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii from my side is Tata Altroz which have ₹ 8.89 Lakh. Tata Altroz XT Petrol is the petrol variant in the Altroz lineup and is priced at ₹ 8.89 Lakh.It returns a certified mileage of 19.05 kmpl. This XT Petrol variant comes with an engine putting out 85 bhp @ 6000 rpm and 113 Nm @ 3300 rpm of max power and max torque respectively. Tata Altroz XT Petrol is available in Manual transmission and offered in 5 colours: Harbour Blue, Midtown Grey, HighStreet Gold, Downtown Red and Avenue White.Here I am suggesting Tata Altroz XT Petrol because of few reasons,

• Tata Altroz, probably the most stylish looking hatchback of the lot
• This car has Five Star G-NCAP safety rating.
• Also, it has a maximum feature loaded and spacious cabin.

In addition, this vehicle has received 4.7 user ratings and reviews among other vehicles. This is great for long trips and regular fluctuations. Its cold glovebox is useful in summer. Good appearance and features. There are no performance issues. The interior design is also very good, as well as the legroom for the Second-Row passenger, which has a good legroom compared to the i20 and the Baleno. The performance, quality, features were very good. It is good for any group of people. Great car to buy, value for money and extra protection for your family. The suspensions are amazing, all cars use the same MacPherson, but this car has been designed entirely with the Alfa architecture to improve long-distance ride quality. Great ride overall.
