    Project 1

    Aim: - 2D meshing on the instrumental Panel

    Objectives: -

    1. For the given component, check for the geometrical errors and mesh with the given element Quality criteria. After meshing the component, the thickness has to be assigned.
    2. Write a detailed report on your meshing process and also mention which method you used to extract the mid-surface along with the reason.

    Follow the given Quality criteria:

    Procedure: -

    1. Firstly, import the given model.

    2. Perform the topology in the given model.

    3. After that, check the geometrical errors and fix them.

    Command: {Tool>>Checks>>Geometry>>Execute}

    If it doesn’t fix all the errors, fix them manually and again check the geometrical errors.

    Green tick in status bar shows all the geometrical errors are fix.

    4. Now, take mid-surface by using offset methods and set PID simultaneously.

    Command: - {Topo>>Faces>>offset>>select surface}

    Set PID and assign the thickness.

    Command: - {Topo>>Faces>>Set PID}

    5. Now, offset the other component using middle command.

    Command: - {Topo>>Faces>>Middle}

    After that, create the curve using middle curve command.

    Command: - {Topo>>curves>>middle}

    Now, create a new surface between curve to rib.

    After that, extend the rib surface up to the opposite surface.

    Command: -{Topo>>Faces>>Extend}

    Now, set the PID and assign thickness.

    Command: - {Topo>>Faces>>Set PID} or {Topo>>Face>>intersect}

    Now, take the mid-surface of another component and assign the thickness.

    Property Table: -

    After that, mesh the given model with given quality criteria.

    We have 3 types to mesh the model.

    1. Manual Method.

    2. Batch mesh method.

    3. Casting Method.

    In this model we mesh the model by Batch mesh method because manual method takes lots of time and in casting method meshing flow and surface is not capture accurately.

    Now, perform batch mesh on the entire model.

    1. Open the model browser and create a new part.

    Now set part.

    Now, set mesh parameter and given quality criteria.

    After that, go to the batch mesh manager and create a new meshing scenario.

    To open the meshing scenario and select part.

    Now again go to batch mesh manager and run the model.

    If the status is not completed, then there is something wrong. Repeat the process until the status is completed.

    Here, we have lots of failure elements, so perform reconstruct and smooth commands.

    In quality criteria, try with triangle as per node for good mesh flow.

    Swap the tria and reconstruct those elements.

    Swap those tria whose touch the line.

    Try to reconstruct element as possible.

    1. With triangle as per node quality criteria.

    2. Without triangle as per node quality criteria.

    Lastly, view the model in shell as solid.

    Command: - {Utilities>>Quality criteria>>presentation parameter>>draw shell as solid}

    Now, check the model once that assign thickness is proper or not.

    Final Model: -

    Learning Outcomes: -

    1. We learn triangle as per node quality criteria.

    2. We learn, assign the thickness to non-uniform surface.

    Conclusion: -

    1. In this Project 1, we extract the mid-surface by using manual method and perform the batch meshing method for meshing the given model with given quality criteria and assign the thickness to the model.
