Surface wrap on Automotive Assembly

Aim: Create surface wrap on automotive assembly

Objectives:

• For the given models, check for the geometrical errors and delete surfaces which are unwanted for Surface wrap.
• After clearing geometry, merge all 3 models and perform surface wrap.
• Target length for Wrap = 3 mm
• Write a detailed report on steps followed to finish this challenge.

Procedure:

• Delete the unwanted surfaces which are outside our area of interest.

• Delete the unwanted surfaces and geometries using delete option.

• Select unchecked surfaces and delete all the objects at once.

• Delete the bigger surfaces which are not required.

• Delete the rings.

• Delete the rings and unwanted spheres.

• Delete the flat surfaces like belts and chains as they are not properly captured in surface meshing.

• Fill the holes present

Gear box geometry:

• Use topo for the entire model.

• Fix the single cons and overlapping surfaces.

• Delete the overlapping surface

Similarly fix the errors in the transmission:

Fix the triple cons and delete unwanted surfaces.

Merge all three components:

 

 

Surface wrap the assembly by taking constant length.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Set target length as 3mm

Select PIDs

Run the surface wrap.

We get the surface wrap as below:
